Sustainable Fashion and SkinCare: FALL
Last time we shared what’s in our carts you guys loved it- so we are back sharing what we are excited about this fall! While it is no secret that our favorite season is Summer, Fall is a close second. The weather is still pretty warm and here on the East Coast, you can still sneak in some good beach days.
As you would probably expect, we approach shopping for clothes, makeup, etc the same way we would for home decor and furniture. We value companies that align with our commitment to sustainability, quality, and ethical practices. So by default, most of the products you see here will have sustainability and environmental practices at the forefront.

The Importance of Sustainability
Before we jump into it- lets talk about why this is important. Choosing sustainable fashion and skincare products is crucial for several reasons:
Environmental Impact: The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental degradation. By supporting sustainable brands, we can help reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and conserve natural resources.
Ethical Practices: Companies that prioritize ethical production methods ensure fair wages and safe working conditions for their workers. This fosters a sense of social responsibility in the industry.
Quality Over Quantity: Investing in high-quality, sustainable products means they are often more durable. This not only saves you money in the long run but also minimizes the need for frequent replacements, reducing overall consumption.
Building a Sustainable Closet
As we transition our wardrobes for fall, it's essential to know which materials and practices to consider for building a sustainable closet:
Organic Cotton: Unlike conventional cotton, organic cotton is grown without harmful pesticides and chemicals, making it better for the planet and for the farmers who cultivate it.
Tencel and Lyocell: These materials, made from renewable wood sources, require less water and produce less waste during manufacturing. They are biodegradable and have a silky feel, making them a great choice for clothing.
Recycled Fabrics: Look for brands that incorporate recycled materials, such as recycled polyester. This reduces the need for virgin resources and diverts waste from landfills.
Hemp: Hemp is a robust and eco-friendly fiber that grows quickly and requires minimal resources. It is naturally resistant to pests, reducing the need for chemical treatments.
Bamboo: This fast-growing plant is a sustainable option for clothing and skincare packaging. Bamboo is biodegradable and requires minimal water to grow.
Skincare with a Purpose
As we approach the fall season, our skincare routines can also embrace sustainability. Look for products that feature:
Natural Ingredients: Choose products that use organic and sustainably sourced ingredients, which are less likely to harm the environment and your skin.
Eco-Friendly Packaging: Brands that use recyclable, biodegradable, or refillable packaging help reduce waste and lessen environmental impact.
Cruelty-Free Practices: Supporting brands that do not test on animals ensures that your skincare choices align with ethical standards.
What we’re excited about for fall fashion-
1- Maison Hotel
This brand makes our little hippy hearts sing. While these are definitely heirloom pieces, the quality and timelessness of each piece ensure that anything from this company will be with you for years to come.
2. DISSH
We have a soft spot for australian clothing brands- they’re laidback lifestyle and use of linens really speaks my language. I wore a linen strapless dress from here (they unfortunately don’t have it anymore!) to the rehearsal dinner at my wedding and it was sooo comfortable.
3. Pact
Pact is a great brand for wardrobe basics and loungewear. We love to use their pieces as a base and then add some layers on top.
4. Quince
This is a great resource for not only clothing but they also have a great assortment of jewlery, accessories and even some really great bedding pieces.
